How richly this latter theory has been confirmed by my Googling!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">O who is this dark angel with her unruly Slavic eyebrows<br \/>\nranged like two duelling pistols, lightly sweating in the pale light<br \/>\nof the TTF screen?<br \/>\nO behold her shaded, infolded concentration, her<br \/>\nheartbreakingly beautiful face so clearly betraying the tru focus<br \/>\nof one not merely content &#8211; as, no doubt, were others at the<br \/>\nManover Elektronische Festival in Wien &#8211;<br \/>\nto hit <em>play<\/em> while making some fraudulent correction to a<br \/>\nvolume slider<br \/>\nbut instead deep in the manipulation of somecomplex<br \/>\nreal-time software such as Ableton Live, MAX\/MSP<br \/>\nor Supercollider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>O Natalie, how can I pay tribute to your infinitely versatile<br \/>\nblend of Nancarrow, Mille Plateaux,\u00a0 Venetian Snares, Xenakis,<br \/>\nBoards of Canada and Nobukazu Takemura<\/strong><br \/>\nto say nothing of those radiant pads &#8211; so strongly reminiscent<br \/>\nof the mid-century bitonal pastoral of Charles Koechlin in their<br \/>\nharmonic bravura &#8211;<br \/>\nor your fine vocals, which, while admittedly limited in range<br \/>\nand force, are nonetheless so much more affecting than the<br \/>\naffected Arctic whisperings of those interchangably dreary<br \/>\nStinas and Hannes and Bjorks, being in fact far closer in spirit<br \/>\nto a kind of glitch-hop Blossom Dearie?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I have also deduced from your staggeringly ingenious<br \/>\nemployment of some pretty basic wavetables<br \/>\nthat unlike many of your East European counterparts, all your<br \/>\nVST plug-ins, while not perhaps the best available,<br \/>\nprobably all have a legitimate upgrade path &#8211; indeed I imagine<br \/>\nyour entire DAW as pure as the driven snow, and not in any way<br \/>\nbuggy or virusy<br \/>\nwhich makes me love you more, demonstrating as it does an<br \/>\nexcess of virtue given your country&#8217;s well-known talent for<br \/>\nsoftware piracy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Though I should confess that at times I find your habit of<br \/>\nmaxxing<br \/>\nthe frequency range with those bat-scaring ring-modulated<br \/>\nsine- bursts and the more distressing psychoacoustic properties<br \/>\nof phase-inversion in the sub-bass frequencies somewhat taxing<br \/>\nyou are nonetheless as beautiful as the mighty Boards<br \/>\nthemselves in your shamless organicizing of the code,<br \/>\nas if you had mined those saw and squares and ramps straight<br \/>\nfrom the Georgian motherlode.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">O Natalie &#8211; I forgive you everything, even your catastrophic<br \/>\nadaptation of those lines from &#8216;Dylan&#8217;s&#8217; already shite<br \/>\n<em>Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night<\/em><br \/>\nin the otherwise magnificent &#8216;Sleepwalkers&#8217;, and when you<br \/>\nopen up those low-<br \/>\npass filters in what sounds like a Minimoog emulation they<br \/>\nseem to open in my heart also&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">At least, my dear, let me wish you the specific best:<br \/>\nmay you be blessed<br \/>\nwith the wonderful instrument you deserve, with a 2 Ghz<br \/>\ndual-core Intel chip and enough double-pumped DDR2 RAM<br \/>\nfor the most CPU-intensive processes;<br \/>\nthen no longer will all those goreous acoustic spaces<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">be accessible only via an offline procedure involving a freeware<br \/>\nconvolution reverb and an imperfectly recorded impulse<br \/>\nresponse of the Concertgebouw made illegally with a hastily-<br \/>\nerected stereo pair and an exploded crisp bag<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">for I would have all your plug-ins run in real-time, in the<br \/>\nblameless zero-latency heaven of the 32-bit floating-point<br \/>\nenviroment, with no buffer-glitch or freeze or dropout or lag;<br \/>\nI would also grant you a MIDI controller of such responsiveness,<br \/>\nsuch smoothness of automation, travel and increment<br \/>\nthat you would think it a transparent intercessor, a mere<br \/>\ncopula, and feel machine and animal suddenly blent&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Don Paterson, ceva poet scotian, a castigat, in Anglia, The Forward Prize pentru cea mai buna poezie pe 2008 cu o oda inchinata nevestei lui Thomas Brinkmann, compozitoarea de muzica electronica Natalie \u2018Tusja\u2019 Beridze.
