14-17 APRIL 2011\/\/ MNAC Bucharest<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 6th edition of\u00a0Rokolectiv\u00a0festival for electronic music and related arts is set to take place between\u00a014th and 17th of April\u00a0in Bucharest\u2019s\u00a0MNAC<\/strong> (Museum of Contemporary Art) with concerts, performances, installations and film screenings. This year\u2019s music program is sure to haunt both good and bad dreams, with a schizoid line up going from pure fun-driven beats to fuzzy dark performances.<\/p>\n

Zombie Zombie<\/strong> will be\u00a0back to Bucharest with their new\u00a0John Carpenter <\/strong>inspired show,\u00a0as well as\u00a0Jimmy Edgar,<\/strong> dropping his XXX\u00a0downright jam\u00a0tracks. Austrian trio\u00a0Elektro Guzzi<\/strong> is called to do what they do best, playing instrumental power techno with\u00a0the traditional rock arrangement of bass, guitar and drums.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0arguably most “maximal” of the minimalists\u2019 era,\u00a0I<\/strong>sol\u00e9e,<\/strong> also gets back in the spotlight following the release of his\u00a0new album on DJ Koze\u2019s Pampa label, while Canadian bred\u00a0The Mole<\/strong> and the very young\u00a0Jozif<\/strong> of Wolf & Lamb notoriety will assure the lush beat-driven part.\u00a0 <\/strong>The fairytale-named Romanian producer\u00a0Petre Inspirescu <\/strong>will also have a special appearance during this edition of the festival.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s performances include the cult-horror set of Manchester-orbiting duo\u00a0Demdike Stare<\/strong>, as well as the amorphous\u00a0noisescapes of highly acclaimed NYC artist Daniel Lopatin, aka\u00a0Oneohtrix Point Never.<\/strong> The festival is set to end with the utterly theatrical performance of\u00a0\u00a0Max Tundra<\/strong>.\u00a0Warmly beloved by a devoted few, but undeniably an acquired taste too esoteric for mass consumption, the crazy shows that\u00a0 Ben Jacobs\u00a0puts up under the moniker\u00a0Max Tundra\u00a0are dizzyingly dense, hyperactive, still obsessed with melody.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition also reveals fresh names like Spanish singer\u00a0Hyperpotamus<\/strong> performing acapella on four microphones and a\u00a0loop station pedal,\u00a0as well as Bucharest\u2019s own breakthroughMontgomery Clunk <\/strong> <\/strong>and the European live debut of\u00a0Salva<\/strong>, a prodigious San Francisco beat maker.<\/p>\n

Staalplaat Soundsystem<\/strong> and\u00a0Quadra TV<\/strong> will round up the program with their most recent installations\/performances, as well as a solo exhibition by the Ars Electronica award winner\u00a0Zimoun<\/strong>, set to open the festival on the 14th\u00a0of April at MNAC.<\/p>\n

Digi-pop-prog, deep bass, gritty loops, battered vocal hooks, infectious melodic lines and psychedelic filtering are just some of this year\u2019s key words.
