“The greatest moments in a largely predictable music business are when you’re blown away by a release you expected nothing from, recorded by an artist you have never heard of before.<\/p>\n

Listening to Aeromaschine’s recent ‘Basement Dubs EP’ for Hamburg’s Baalsaal imprint was such a moment. Played out loud in our office, its five tracks turned heads across the room, and dutiful answers as to what we were listening to were met with more then one incredulous “what, this one too?”.<\/p>\n

The EP combines dub techno, deep house, Chicago and Detroit in a way that would make any veteran producer proud. Yet, the man behind ‘Basement Dubs’ is a young artist from Bucharest, Romania: Alin Crihan, as he’s known to his friends, started releasing his first productions around 2007 on a number of digital labels, gradually refining his sound until he devised his Aeromaschine alias in 2009.<\/p>\n

His ‘Poet In Disguise’ release provided a first glimpse of his talent to create deep, unadorned house tracks and eventually led to his signing to Hamburg based label Baalsaal. They were not the only ones to take note of Crihan’s qualities however: Aeromaschine’s brand-new EP to follow hot on the heels of ‘Basement Dubs’ is called ‘Ascultam Vorbe’, and has just been released on Tensnake’s excellent Mirau Musik imprint.<\/p>\n
