Pantha du Prince has been your friend since childhood. Did you discover music together?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were young, living was easy. As he looked so good and I needed a bassplayer in my band we got together. One of my oldest friend. We have a lot in common.<\/p>\n

With what music did you grow up?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nearly everything that has a strong intent. Besides all the classical music my mom used to blast in the living room I was a huge fan of Depeche Mode since I was six years old. You would find everything in my record collection from Alban Berg to the Fall to Easy E to Ornette Colemen to Janet Jackson to The La Hu_nyn of Thailand and back to Bob Dylan….<\/p>\n

How were your student years?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was broke most of the time. But looking back it was a good time. Don\u00b4t know where all the time went…<\/p>\n

Do you miss making sound installation?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u00b4m still busy in the field of sound related art, work on the concepts of ambient\/drone music (listen to dial 44!, out late autumn feat. a new piece of mine as Phillip Sollmann). I also did a workshop called \u201cThe Other Ear\u201d as a teacher in a French artschool this year. This one was about hundred years of experimental\/electronic music. Things like that are quite important to me and open your ears.<\/p>\n

Your girlfriend is an artist. Do you ever help her with her work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh yes, mainly I\u00b4m doing the work, and then her name is written on the piece in the end… J
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

You have a garden with plants. Any stories from the garden? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I love watching plants grow. I wish I had a garden – so I would have a donkey as well. At the moment I am limited to some flowers and roses on our roof-garden. But one day I will have apple-trees and treat them like my father (who is a garden-architect) showed me when I was young.<\/p>\n

Why are you called “the best man dressed in house”? Where was your tie at Sonar?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you could find out who put this one into the world, I\u00b4d be happy…Journalism goes a little far sometimes. And the internet is an ulcer regarding that. Try not to forget my tie when I come to Bucharest. It is the same with everybody writing I was a resident of Panoramabar, which isn\u00b4t the fact. Our label (Dial) runs a bi-monthly night there in our favourite club \u2013 that\u00b4s it.

Do you work anything else except music?<\/strong>
\nAt the moment I am so privileged to only care about music and related stuff. Very nice.<\/p>\n

Your name comes from a Romanian character, Michael Efdemin. What is the story?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u00b4s something related to Alfred Hitchcock. Can\u00b4t say more…<\/p>\n

Do you still play the cello?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u00b4t play as much as I would love to. But I keep it with me since I was ten and play some pieces now and then. The last years I have only used it to record it into my drone-machine on the computer as a tone generator. Hope I will find time to practice again one day.<\/p>\n

Where did you meet the perfect party vibe?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Can\u00b4t say that there is one best club \u2013 but regarding the vibe I would say I like it hot \u2013 packed and nearly dark. Distellery (Leipzig), Golden Pudel Club (Hamburg), Rashamon (Rome), Pacotek (Jerusalem), Sud electronic (london) and of course Panoramabar are some of the places where it was very special last year.<\/p>\n

How is the vibe in Berlin?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If I am outside of berlin I don\u00b4t miss it much \u2013 If I am back \u2013 most of the time I think it is a very good place to be. Isn\u00b4t as crazy as it used to be \u2013 but still one of the best places for electronic dance music.<\/p>\n
