Ca unii dintre vinovatii discursului “anti-cocalari” pe zona noastra dar si ca emitatori ai butandei “anti-cocalarul este un cocalar” va prezentam cel mai inteligent, in the know si precis text despre manele. Ever.

IRCAM, Institutul de cercetare si coordonare acustica/muzicala din Paris, Franta, este unul dintre cele mai importante centre din lume de inovatie stiintifica si tehnologica in domeniul muzicii si sunetului. Organizat pe trei axe majore – creatie, cercetare si transmisie – IRCAM este un loc de productie si rezidente pentru compozitori internationali, dezvolta soft-uri si interfate tehnologice si organizeaza concerte si festivaluri. Figuri marcante care au colaborat cu IRCAM: Luciano Berio, John Cage, Pierre Boulez, Terry Riley, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Iannis Xenakis.

Frédéric Bevilacqua, cercetator specializat in analiza gesturilor pentru muzica si artele performative, este responsabil al echipei de cercetare a interactiilor musicale in timp real de la IRCAM.

Light Asylum – In Tension

It’s almost indescribably good, this band, and their little bite of a four-song tour EP In Tension. Buzzy FM synths and tectonic beats. Apostolic organs ascending, noise screeching, the back and forth of Funchess’ voice caterwauling all manic with suggestion: “The prince of peace doesn’t have to know about it.” Good in the way you feel, you know; the hot pulse of it sucks thought straight outta your head. “A Certain Someone” comes in sweet and major—the only pastel-hued track of the bunch—and yields to the midnight mass of “Dark Allies”, the electro-punk pogo of “Knights and Weekends” (think Joy Division’s “Digital” if it actually were), “Skull Fuct” and its final darkwave yelp. The whole thing may be only 20 minutes—but it’s an intense 20 minutes.
