Canadianul de origine franceza care locuieste la Berlin, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a ajuns la cel de-al doilea album, Breaking the Fourth Wall, scos in mai la Circus Company. Albumul trece granitele house si techno si aduce piese atat ambientale cat si pentru ringul de dans, sustinute de percutii africane si latino. Avem si acid jazz. Toate cele 11 piese sunt facute cu instrumentatie live: orga, saxofon si mai ales chitari. Exista si invitati, precum americanul Dave Aju care aici pune voce, dar el poate canta orice sunet din gura, si francezii de la dOP, cu care a mai colaborat acum doi ani, pe EPul I was on My Way to Hell. Albumul face mai mult sens ascultat ca un intreg, decat pe piese, pentru ca Guillaume s-a straduit sa-l faca sa sune precum o trupa o live. Text despre artist aici, primul album aici.

Scoala Underground Quality isi spune din nou cuvantul. Piesele lui DJ Qu, pe numele sau Ramon Lisandro Quezada, au asa un sound distinct, incat ma intreb ce-l inspira cu adevarat. Daca mi-ai fi spus vreodata ca o sa-mi placa piesa pe care se aud versuri precum “I want to feel your desire”, as fi crezut ca faci misto de mine. Dar iata… Muzica ciudata, greu de ascultat acasa, dar perfecta pentru ringul de dans. Melodii intunecate, percutii inalte, corzi melancolice si ambigue. Cea de-a doua piesa suna de parca e produsa pentru Ostgut Ton: metalic, synthuri acide si snareuri sincopate.

Londonezul James Blake nu face muzica de dans, ci slow electronic. Piesele suna de parca s-ar tara ele insele prin noroi, sunt construite pe drama soundului gospel si soul. De aceea, suna mult mai avansat din punct de vedere al armoniilor, fata de alti producatori electronici, dar si foarte traditional in acelasi timp.
