Datorita weekendului ce a trecut au iesit la suprafata EPuri vechi, numai bune de reascultat si de cazut in nostalgie. DJ Skull este un DJ din Chicago, iar numele EP-ului “Stumping Grounds” inseamna “a customary territory or favorite gathering place”, adica un fel de Poiana lui Iocan unde se asculta si se discuta despre minimal chicago acid house.
“Fabric will ask you to put your hands up for Detroit later this year when it invites Motor City producer Omar-S to become the next artist to grace its celebrated mix series. The fiercely independent producer isn’t repping his city so much as himself, however, as the tracklist looks a lot like Ricardo Villalobos’ turn at the Fabric helm. That’s right, Fabric 45 is an all-Omar affair. The street racer has put on some of his most famous productions, most notably “Psychotic Photosynthesis” a song which Omar claims he put together in a matter of minutes, and added four new tracks of previously unreleased material. In typical Detroit style, he told Fabric, “I don’t need other people’s music; I got over 100 songs released. I can make fucking six fucking Fabric records right now. I can probably make fucking ten CDs just of unreleased shit.” RA

“When we first started thinking about the compilation, we had in mind the idea to put together a great minimal techno selection with stuff from the early 90s, which really inspired us, like Robert Hood, Dan Bell, Plastikman, Pansonic and Mike Ink to name a few. Whilst working on the project we had the feeling that there is so much more great and influential minimal music from way before the techno thing started.
So we were very excited to combine the music from the electronic pioneers, with the tracks from the minimal techno godfathers in a very modern way.”
Un album care ma chinuie de cateva zile, cam cea mai neasteptata muzica (normal, dupa Dan Deacon) pe care am ascultat-o anul asta. Ma astept sa ajunga urgent de referinta dupa ce isi depasesc handicapul de a fi greci. Iese din zona electronica si deci imi e greu sa ii gasesc nisa, dar suna in parti ca Poni Hoax, in altele ca Diamanda Galas, are bucati de art rock (exista stilul asta?), new wave, shoegaze, techno (de sunet s-a ocupat Cristian Vogel). Unele piese abea asteapta remixuri ca sa ajunga hituri, altele sunt mai greu digerabile pentru urechi comode dar per total este un festin. Pentru cine se nimereste.

Vorbeam mai de mult despre noul Dan Deacon, care si-a facut trupa si a transformat prajeala din Spider Man of the Rings, albumul din 2007, in frumusete dementiala, numai buna sa incepi saptamana. Dupa ce am visat acest albumaproape in fiecare zi, in sfarsit a aparut si e mana cereasca. La fel de mana e si setul lui Donato de mai jos.
