S-a propus in commenturile de la 1 mai un b2b Villalobos vs. Buena Vista Social Club. Pana cand lucrul asta se va intampla compensam lipsa cu un album produs de o nemtoaica (Miss Fitz) cu biblioteca de sunete si voci inregistrate in Cuba de niste japonezi (Power Shovel Audio). Merge bine daca nu aveti reactii adverse la zona cubaneza, seara, la coneac.

“The making of this record inadvertently began in Cuba in January 2008. Powershovelaudio was recording in La Havana some of the best contemporary Cuban singers and musicians. The resulting recordings were of an inspiring beauty. The situation was that Powershovelaudio had this outstanding collection of voices, woods and brass, all infused by the tropical warmth. It was first-class material that should be put in the best hands possible, then Maayan came to mind. “Night Long” is a synthetic work. Maayan has inexplicably, quickly and with incredible precision captured the essence and the expressivity of the Cuban musicians and taken it to a hitherto unknown place. Oops, we did it again. Ne-am dus si anul asta impotriva tuturor promisiunilor din anii trecuti si impotriva tuturor prietenilor care s-au uitat urat la noi cand am decis asta. 1 mai-ul la mare e un love it or hate it affair. Mai vrei sau nu. Mai poti sau nu. Argumentul pe care il aduci tu impotriva lui e exact motivul pentru care se duce altcineva. 1 mai-ul nu a fost niciodata ceva fin. A fost dintotdeauna o experienta extrema, excesiva, populara, cea mai apropiata atmosfera de festival pe care o poti gasi la noi. 3 zile si 3 nopti de petrecere, muzica si haos. Non-stop. Un fel de proto-festival, sau oricum, cea mai apropiata atmosfera de ceea ce inseamna un festival. Totul intors pe dos, totul permis, nebunul incoronat rege circula pe bulevardul Mamaia, abolind temporar legile cetatii. Celebrare si reset, facem asta de cand lumea.

How do you find Romania after playing here for four-five times in the last 5 years?
Sascha Funke: It is growing and of course it’s quite difficult because Romania was not so good economically speaking and it was not easy after the revolution, but if you take a look at the the East European countries I think is the best country for our music scene.

Is there any romanian music present on german clubbing scene?
There are DJs like RPR and Livio, everyone knows them and they are playing quite often, so some of the romanian music is known.

It seems you are most of the time DJing. Do you ever play live?
I’m quite bored about playing live. Let’s say that I don’t like my music too much that I would be happy to play one hour of my music every week. I wouldn’t smile on the stage. As a DJ you can decide maybe tonight I’ll play three tracks or one track or no track. In a live you always have to play the same kind your music, your music, and I don’t like it too much. If I would be part of a band maybe it would be fun, but alone, no. As a DJ you have every week the chance to do something different than the week before and of course every club is different, every party situation is different, so as DJ you are more flexible – this is the crowd and this was the DJ before me so I’ll play this kind of music. As for live you are completely stuck in what you have to play, what everyone expects.

miron ghiu: Mircea Florian & DJ Vasile au sustinut joi un performance extraterestru in multe momente si emotionant in fiecare gest sau beat, intr-o broderie experimentala de folk electronic alien(at) de un lirism de scoala veche animat de misticisme proaspete, nuantate cult(ural) pe teme simbolice variind de la sexul prin computer la personaje din mitologii imaginare, cum ar fi Corin, vampirul cu o mie de ochi, sau politrucii de (recunoscut) ieri si azi.

Clashul dintre contemporan si arhaic e la fel de puternic in muzica lui Florian (din Transilvania) ca pe Tainicul Vartej, disc aparut in 1986. Samanii devin mai puternici si mai intelepti, cu anii, si ceata melopoica poate fi recompusa, iata, si in 2009. Un live cu putine inserturi de “arta multimediala” (cum spunea intr-un interviu, delimitandu-se de artistii “multimedia”) dar cu multa inscenare narativa inclusiv pe scratch-uri psihedelice si 8-bit-aiala, unele dintre pasaje functionand ca mantre, pe rand, atat pentru Mircea Florian cat si pentru Vasile. […]
